DHL | Integration with Yuma AI
DHL is a global logistics company operating in over 220 countries and territories. DHL Group is organized into five divisions: Express for international time-definite deliveries, Global Forwarding and Freight for air, ocean, and overland transport, Supply Chain for warehousing and logistics solutions, eCommerce for domestic and international parcel delivery, and Post & Parcel Germany for the German consumer market. DHL operates more than 4,000 facilities worldwide, runs over 2,300 daily flights serving 500+ airports, and maintains a fleet of over 200,000 vehicles. It is one of the largest logistics providers in the world by revenue.
Yuma & DHL
Yuma integrates with DHL through two native tracking connections, fully automating WISMO inquiries for merchants using DHL.
DHL Unified Tracking API covers shipments across all DHL divisions - including Express, eCommerce, Freight, Global Forwarding, and Post & Parcel Germany. When a customer asks about their order or shipment, Yuma automatically queries the Unified API to pull live tracking status and includes that information in its response.
DHL eCommerce Americas is a separate connection scoped specifically to DHL's US e-commerce parcel service. It provides carrier-specific tracking data for domestic US shipments handled by DHL eCommerce.
Both connections work automatically in the background with no per-workflow setup needed. Yuma uses the appropriate connection based on the shipment type and region.
Key Features of DHL
Global Network Across 220+ Countries
DHL delivers to over 220 countries and territories, making it one of the widest-reaching logistics networks available. The infrastructure includes 22 air hubs (3 global, 19 regional), more than 2,300 daily flights, and over 4,000 facilities. This network supports both express shipments and standard parcel delivery across regions where many other carriers have limited presence.
Express and Time-Definite Delivery
DHL Express provides international door-to-door delivery with defined transit times. Services include same-day and next-day options for major urban markets, as well as time-definite international shipping. All express shipments come with end-to-end tracking through DHL's Track & Trace system.
E-Commerce Parcel Delivery
DHL eCommerce handles high-volume domestic and international parcel delivery for online retailers. In the US, DHL eCommerce Americas provides delivery within 2-8 business days for domestic shipments. Parcels are sorted at distribution centers and handed to local delivery providers for last-mile delivery, with DHL partnering with 220 postal providers around the world.
Cross-Border Shipping and Customs
DHL has established customs clearance infrastructure in the markets it serves. For e-commerce merchants shipping internationally, DHL handles duties, taxes, and customs documentation. This is relevant for brands selling across borders that need a carrier with clearance capabilities built into the shipping process.
Unified Tracking API
The DHL Shipment Tracking Unified API provides a single endpoint for tracking shipments across all DHL divisions. It returns real-time status updates, estimated delivery dates, and pickup dates. A push notification option is also available for proactive status updates without polling.
Why use DHL?
Widest Geographic Reach
DHL's presence in 220+ countries gives it coverage in regions - particularly Africa, Eastern Europe, and parts of Asia - where other major carriers have limited or no operations. For brands shipping globally, DHL can often reach destinations that FedEx or UPS cannot.
Single Carrier for Multiple Shipping Needs
DHL's divisions cover express delivery, standard e-commerce parcels, freight forwarding, and supply chain logistics under one company. Merchants can use DHL for both fast international express shipments and cost-effective domestic parcel delivery without managing separate carrier relationships.
Established Cross-Border Infrastructure
DHL processes a high volume of international shipments daily and has customs clearance operations in place across its network. For merchants selling internationally, this reduces the friction of cross-border shipping compared to carriers with less developed import/export infrastructure.
Strong European Network
Europe accounts for the majority of DHL's revenue, and DHL's network density in European markets is higher than most competing carriers. For merchants with significant European customer bases, DHL is often the most reliable option for delivery speed and coverage.
